This is a cute rendition of an interesting looking character. The background, which could have easily been a little of obnoxious and distracting if it was another color, actually looks fine, since it ties in with the scarf and eye color. It does have the potential though, so when doing simple backgrounds for characters, be careful not to make them too busy.
The anatomy is a little off, although I'm not 100% sure how he's supposed to be lying. If his back legs are supposed to be sticking out behind him, then that's okay, but if they're just folded up, then the line for the back is too far down, and there should be some sort of indication of the knee sticking up over the tail.
The chest area is a little high up, almost like he's supporting it with his front legs, although it doesn't look like he is.
The only other suggestions I have for this, is the addition of shading and cleaning up the line edges. Shading would really make the character pop, and make it seem more three dimensional. And, cleaning up the lines would make it seem neater, and cleaner.
So, overall, a cute piece. Adorable expression, and I like the details in the eye. Good job!
